The need for computing professionals in the United States is increasing at unprecedented rates.  Almost every major challenge facing our world is turning to computing for a solution, from conquering disease to eliminating hunger, from improving education to increasing national defense.  

Although much of the economy is experiencing a downturn, today's market is experiencing growing demand with big salaries for qualified professionals in computer science-related fields.  Estimates for job growth in the United States range from 38% to 56% across the computing spectrum.  With more choices and more opportunities, it's a better time than ever to be on the search for a career in computing.  The jobs are there--your task is to simply narrow down your options! Services offered by BYU, the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, and the Computer Science Department can help.

eRecruiting

The hub for on-campus recruiters and students looking for high quality internship and full-time placement positions. 

How to Register on eRecruiting:

  1. Login to Route-Y from the BYU websiteGo to your Route-Y account.
  2. Under the miscellaneous section, click on "Career Services – eRecruiting"
  3. Read through the policy
  4. Click on "I AGREE"

First-time eRecruiting users will then see:

  1. A generic password token
  2. Click here to enter your password token and register on eRecruiting 
  3. Enter the password token and click "Enter"
  4. Fill out the profile information
  5. Click on "Register"
  6. Fill out the rest of the required information (clicking "Next" until finished)
  7. Save

How to upload a document:

  1. Go to your eRecruiting account (not that you have registered, you can go directly to the site at www.byu.erecruiting.com
  2. Type in the user name and password that you selected during registration
  3. Click on the Documents icon at the top of the page
  4. Click "Upload Document" in the drop down menu
  5. Click "Résumé"
  6. Click "Next"
  7. Browse through your documents to select your résumé
  8. Click "Upload"

Alumni Placement Services

A new, no-cost service for alumni, cutting edge technology and assessment science helping enhance your career efforts.  Alumni are introduced to employers and opportunities that match the way you think, the way you act, and your occupational interests.

Services for active job seekers as well as passive candidates, those not actively looking but open to new opportunities or better positions, and those who haven't even considered a change but need a "safety net" in case of unforeseen future events. 

To participate, go to http://byualumni.applicantsearch.com/pages/content, and follow the simple instructions there. Upon completing the process, alumni will automatically receive a detailed report of with interesting assessment results.k

This system provided at no charge for alumni, through a partnership with the BYU Alumni Placement office, Performance Resources, LLC, Profiles International, Inc., and JobMatch, LLC.

  • BYU students have a one-year subscription to www.internships.com <http://www.internships.com/>. The search engine lists internships by location, area of study, and compensation to aid our students in their internship search.

    To access the site, interested individuals must follow the steps below:

    1. Go to: www.internships.com <http://www.internships.com/>
    2. Click on “Go to Premium Pages.”
    3. Select “Brigham Young University – Utah” from the drop-down menu.
    4. Enter the Promo Code: Cougars
    5. Enter name, email, and password. Click ‘Sign Up’.
    6. Enter email and password again. Click ‘Login’.

    Return visitors may access the site by using their email and password.
