JOB SUMMARY
The QA Entry Level Test Engineer role is a team position in the QA department. The QA engineer works with project management, software development, account services, IT, and account management to ensure the delivery and maintenance of the highest quality software. The individual in this role will have accountability for the quality of all assigned projects and associated deliverables. The position will report directly to a Team Lead QA Test Engineer. In addition the QA engineer will work closely with the technology team, to identify, isolate, qualify, report, track, and resolve defects in release candidate software.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Research, verify and/or define software specifications for testing candidate software.
+ Creation, maintenance, and documentation of test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test environments.
+ Create utilities to test software, extract data, and perform analysis.
+ Gather data to track testing efforts for historical baselines and project estimates.
+ Provide testing estimates on an as-needed basis for existing and new projects.
+ Reporting of testing results in a timely manner.
+ Must have a basic understanding of quality testing and development technology and what is needed to deliver quality software to external customers.
+ Provide second level support for the client facing teams and customers.
+ Take an active role in timely issue resolution and be able to escalate issues when appropriate.
+ Coordinate timely communication to customers and internal stakeholders on issue resolution status.
+ Take corrective action as necessary to assure project and customer success.
+ Must take direction from team lead; identify and communicate pertinent issues to appropriate team members.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
+ Sound customer service orientation.
+ Must be detailed oriented, organized, and possess excellent follow-up skills
+ Must be able to function under pressure to meet tight deadlines
+ Must have solid analytical skills
+ Ability to communicate effectively in writing, in person, over the telephone and in e-mail
+ Minimal travel required
+ Bachelor’s Degree - Information Systems Management, Computer Science, Related Field or equivalent experience
+ Self starter and able to work effectively in a coordinated team effort
+ Knowledge of the Financial Industry (Equity, Options, or Futures Trading) preferred
+ Introductory knowledge of testing methodologies and tools
+ Working knowledge of MS Office Suite, Windows and Linux (preferred) Operating Systems
+ Working knowledge of networking concepts and protocols
+ Working knowledge of SQL preferred
+ Experience with CVS preferred
