Education:
-BS in Computer Science or a computer-related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience:
-3-5 years experience in DB management preferred
-3 years experience with server installation, OS setup, configuration and optimization
-Substantial experience with Microsoft SQL Server
-DBA Certification preferred
-Providing database for large or complex database projects
-Experience with Altiris products preferred, but not required

Skills:
-Install, configure, and customize Microsoft Windows Server, MacOS X Server, Linux, and Microsoft SQL Server.
-Experience designing, modeling, developing, and supporting RDBMS.
-Experience in logical and physical database design, data modeling techniques, and schema design.
-Strong working knowledge of database design and deployment, recovery techniques, as well as performance monitoring
and tuning.
-Knowledge of SQL language, including programming and SQL code optimization.
-Knowledge of desktop database packages (Access, Filemaker Pro, etc.), and ability to convert/migrate to an enterprise
class solution.
-Strong system administration skills (Data recovery, OS and application maintenance, etc.)

-Prepare clear and concise system and database documentation.
-Excellent oral and written communication skills.
-Ability to explain technical information to diverse types of audiences.
Duties/Responsibilities (40%) Maintain existing, creating new, and relating databases from all sources
a. Maintain existing databases
b. Create new databases
c. Create relationships between all of these
(35%) System Administration
a. OS and SQL Server installation, maintenance, troubleshooting
b. Integration with other Computing Services systems
c. Help maintain and use Altiris Client Management System and its databases
(15%) Coordinate with Web, Systems, and Desktop teams
(10%) Consult with departments, dean's office, and professors on data needs.
