Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a network engineer with a strong technical background. This position involves working within the California network operations department to design, install, and operate network systems and services. Emphasis is placed on security, performance, reliability, and supporting a diverse user community. Responsibilities will include system design, network configuration, project management, network modeling and simulation, network security, software development for network applications, troubleshooting, interfacing with cyber security and desktop support, and coordinating operations with Sandia, New Mexico. The successful candidate will take a lead role in planning system evolution, developing new capabilities, and reengineering existing systems and processes. JO 63902
Required Criteria:
- Masters Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent experience
- Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communications skills and dedication and commitment to the network operations team
- Experienced in Network Systems
- Experience with boundary controllers (firewalls & VPN controllers)
- Experience with Cisco routers (router configuration, IOS, routing protocols)
- Experience with network applications (DNS, email, NTP)
- Operating knowledge of TCP/IP network protocols
- Operating system platforms experience: UNIX ( LINUX, FreeBSD), Windows Server
