Teaching Partnership Program Application Deadlines vary. ORCA Mentoring Grants October 10, 2005 Application Deadline; Awards announced December $1,500 Mentoring grant for undergraduate research. Students need to find a faculty advisor that will serve as a mentor and write a letter for their application. The student also needs to write up a proposal of the research project as part of the application process. 50% Apply

Academic Competitveness Grant
 Up to $750 for the first year of undergraduate study and up to $1,300 for the second year of undergraduate studyFull-time students who are U.S citizens, eligible for a Federal Pell Grant, and who have successfully completed a rigorous high school program are eligible for ACGs. Second year students must also have maintained a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0.  The ACG award is in addition to the student's Pell Grant award.Nearly all students who meet the requirements will receive ACG money from the federal government

National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (SMART Grant) Up to $4,000 for each of the third and fourth years of undergraduate studyFull-time students who are U.S. citizens, eligible for a Federal Pell Grant, and majoring in physical, life, or computer sciences, mathematics, technology, or engineering or in a foreign language determined critical to national security are eligible for SMART Grants. The student must also have maintained a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 in coursework required for the major. The National SMART Grant award is in addition to the student's Pell Grant award.Nearly all students who meet the requirements will receive SMART Grant money from the federal government

Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship Application Deadline: December 16, 2007
Up to $7,500 for eligible expenses.  Junior applicants receive support for a maximum of one year; sophomore applicants are eligible for two years. The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship is a national award given to undergraduates to foster and encourage excellence in science, mathematics, and engineering.  Students may apply if they are currently a sophomore or a junior in science, math, or engineering and are planning to pursue a research career.  Applicants must be U.S. citizens or resident aliens.  Applicants should have a GPA or 3.9 or higher, a strong commitment to research, and previous undergraduate research experience. Up to 300 scholarships are awarded. U.S. Department of Homeland Security Scholarship January 23, 2007
Full tuition for one year plus a $1,000 monthly stipend.  May be renewed the following year
Applicants must be entering their junior year and enrolled in an approved field of study.  Applicants should have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or above and must be U.S. Citizens.

Intercollegiate Studies Institute: William E. Simon Fellowship for Noble Purpose Application Deadline: February 15, 2007
Unrestricted cash grants: one $40,000 and two $5,000 awards Applicants must be graduating seniors. Students should use the award to "engage directly in the civic life of their community, advance their expertise, or work in whatever way they believe will contribute to the ultimate realization of their noble purpose." Official transcripts, a letter of recommendation, and an essay are also required. 3 awards given; a one-time cash award Apply
Microsoft Undergraduate Scholarships

Applications must be postmarked by January 15, 2007.

Up to 100% tuition for the following academic year. Awarded students are required to do a salaried 12 week summer internship at Microsoft Students majoring in Computer Science with at least a 3.0 GPA.  Students from groups currently underrepresented in the field of computer science or technical degrees are given preference, but all candidates who meet the eligibility criteria are considered. A large majority of our scholarships will be awarded to female students, underrepresented minority students, and students with disabilities. Varies Apply
Society of Women Engineers

Application for upper-class undergraduate students will be available mid-December, 2006.  

Applications for freshmen students will be available February 1, 2007.

Tau Beta Pi Scholarships March 1,2007 Application Deadline One-year $2,000 cash award Awarded to students who will ultimately advance the interest of the engineering profession. Must be member of Tau Beta Pi. Applicants must plan on returning to school for a senior year of full-time study in engineering. Requires two letters of reference and class ranking. At least 123 scholarships will be awarded for the 2007-2008 school year

USA Today All-Academic Team Application Deadline: November 2007
$2,500 cash award for the 20 first team members USA Today is looking for students who excel not only in scholarship, but also in leadership roles on-and off-campus. Must be a full-time student with at least a sophomore status. One letter of recommendation is needed from a nominating professor as well as two additional recommendations from persons of the nominee's choice. 60 students will be named to the first, second, and third teams. Golden Key: Research Travel Grants October 20 and April 15: Application Deadlines $500 Allows members to conduct honors thesis research, and/or present their research at conferences or research symposia. Must be an undergraduate Golden Key member. Application requires description of proposed research presentation, evidence of invitation to present at conference, or documentation by the thesis advisor showing travel need for research. Also submit overall cost of attendance form, extracurriculur resume, and transcripts. A minimum of 10 total awards per year, 5 bi-annually. Apply
U.S. Department of Energy: FaST Program February 1, 2007 Application Deadline Student team members will receive funding assistance with travel and housing. Up to $1,000 additional support may be requested for extraordinary travel expenses. The Faculty and Student Teams Program (FaST) prepares students for careers in science, engineering, computer science, and technology. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien, at least 18, and enrolled as an undergraduate. Must have 2.5 GPA and have health insurance. Not given Apply
U.S. Department of Energy: SULI Internships July 1, October 1, and February 1 Appilcation Deadline $400 weekly stipend, housing allowance, transportation. Each participant will be required to submit research paper or PowerPoint presentation and a research abstract.� Must be an undergraduate, 18 years or older, and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien.� Applicants must have at least a 2.5 GPA and be majoring in any branch of science, math, or engineering.� Students selected based on coursework, recommendations, scientific interests, and compatability with research programs, and avilability of necessary resources. Collegiate Inventor's Competition February 1, 2006 Application Deadline $50,000 for grad prize $25,000 to two undergraduate winners and $25,000 to two graduate winners. This is a competition for inventor's. There are all sorts of submissions. It is sponsored by the patent and trademark offices of the U.S. It is open to both Graduate and Undergraduate applicants. 5 awards given. No percentage of awards from how many applied on website. Phi Eta Sigma Varies Approximately 82 $1,000 awards and 29 $2,000 scholarships Must be a member of a Phi Eta Sigma chapter. Applicants must be nominated by their chapter. UCAMHE

Application Deadline:  Fall

$1,000 Applicants must be: U.S. citizens/permanent residents, multicultural students, and residents of the state of Utah. They should also show financial need, have at least 2.0 GPA, have completed 24 semester credit hours, and be enrolled in a university or college in Utah. Students need to demonstrate leadership in school, community and/or other service organizations that promote, enhance, or strengthen diversity. An applicant packet, a copy of college transcripts, two letters of recommendation, and financial need documentation will be required. Business and Professional Women's Foundation Application Deadline: April 15, 2007
$500-$1,000 Encourages women in study in non-traditional fields such as business, engineering, and health sciences.� Applicants must be U.S. citizens 25 years or older. Need to demonstrate critical financial need, clear career plans, and previous acceptance into an accredited program. Must graduate 12-24 months from date of grant. Executive Women's Forum Fellowship

Full tuition for the program, approximately $68,000 The EWF has partnered with the Information Networking Institute and Carnegie Mellon's CyLab to offer a scholarship for their Master of Science in Information Security Technology and Management program.  The recipient will receive full tuition for the duration of their enrollment.  This scholarship will be offered to students from historcially underrepresented populations in the area of information networking and security, including women.  The EWF will arrange a mentoring relationship between the scholarship recipient and an EWF alumni. 1
