Google, Director of Business Operations and Strategy

Danny has been at Google since January 2011 as a Director of Business Operations and Strategy.  In this role, he leads project teams addressing strategic opportunities and designing efficient business processes for the company.  He has been involved in projects including reviewing privacy practices across Google, designing efficient processes for business development, setting quarterly corporate goals and identifying growth barriers for Google’s display advertising business.

Prior to Google, Danny was a senior advisor for private equity firm TPG, working with TPG portfolio companies (e.g. Petco, Avaya, ATD, etc.) to identify and realize revenue growth and margin maximization opportunities.  He also spent 11 years with Dell Inc. as a general manager and marketing director, including head of marketing for Asia-Pacific/Japan and head of the Corporate Strategy Group, reporting to the Office of the Chairman.  Prior to Dell, Danny was a Case Team Leader at Bain & Company where his work included  sales and channel strategy, consumer entry strategy, product pricing, manufacturing sourcing, M&A, etc.  Danny began his career as a software engineer at several technology companies including Novell and two startups.

Danny holds a MS in Business from MIT Sloan and a BS in Computer Science from Brigham Young University.

Outside of work, Danny enjoys traveling, reading, music (listening and singing), amateur astronomy, cycling, snowboarding and doing all of the above with his wife and two teenage kids (except astronomy, which really hasn’t caught on with the rest of the Young household...)
