Cutting Edge Genealogy Tool Development

We will walk through the development tools, strategies, and techniques employed to develop cutting edge genealogy software. We'll discuss such topics as agile development with Scrum, development tools, engineering team formation, team interaction and responsibilities, rapid prototyping through the http://labs.familysearch.org site, etc. We will demo several of the upcoming software solutions currently under development including FamilyTree, RecordSearch, and FamilySearch Indexing. Finally, we will outline the various development support services for those who would like to build software that interacts with FamilySearch.

Biography: 

Kevin Ward: Kevin is the development manager for both the Family Tree Flex Client and the FamilySearch API.

Tim Cross: Tim has worked as a Product Manager for the new FamilySearch for 5 years. Prior to working for the Church, Tim worked in the computer industry for PriceWaterhouse, Booz, Allen, & Hamilton, and Novell.  Tim is currently responsible for the Family Tree portion of the new FamilySearch.

Gordon Clarke: Gordon is managing the Developer Services and API Marketing for  FamilySearch. Previously, Gordon was the founder and president of ici MEDIA. Over the last 25 years, Gordon has organized and lead numerous companies and projects, creating and delivering internet, desktop computer, audio/video, and enterprise solutions for many different industries.
