Ruby: History, Philosophy & Application

Recently, the Ruby language is getting accepted wildly, partly due to the well-known Web application framework, Ruby on Rails. In this presentation, the language designer, Yukihiro Matsumoto (a.k.a Matz) himself explains the history of the language, and how it can help you become more effective in programming. He also describes the philosophy behind the language, some of which can be applied to any software design. 

Biography: 

Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto is the designer of the Ruby language since 1993. He is a full-time open source software developer working for the company named Netlab.jp. He is also known as one of open source evangelists in Japan. As a member of the LDS church, he served his mission in Japan Okayama Mission, and now serves as the first counselor in the Bishopric of Matsue Ward, Japan Okayama Stake.
