Josh pulls back the curtain on how Silicon Valley startups work and offers a unique perspective from a technical founder that has been there and done that.  Topics briefly covered will include Venture Capital, Fundraising, Product Development, Merger and Acquisitions, and the risk and rewards of starting your own technology company.

 Josh Coates is an experienced software engineer, researcher and entrepreneur.  He graduated with a Computer Science degree from UC Berkeley where he did research on parallel systems.  Josh continued his R&D work at Microsoft Research and Inktomi.  In 1999 Josh founded his first venture backed startup, Scale8.  In 2003 the intellectual property of Scale8 was sold to Intel.  Josh then took a hiatus from the commercial world at the non-profit Internet Archive for a year.  In 2004 he relocated to Utah and started Berkeley Data Systems (Mozy) where he serves as CEO.
