Biography

Dr. Cornell received his Ph.D. in computer science from the Politechnical institute of Timisoara, Romania, in 1972. The research for his Ph.D. was done at the University of Illinois--Champaign/Urbana, where he studied as a Fullbright Scholar.

While head of the software research division and director of the Politechnical Institute of Timisoara's computer center, Dr. Cornell was involved with many projects for industry. He co-founded the Modula Research Institute and is a member of IEEE Computer Society (Executive Committee of the Technical Committee on Programming Languages), ACM, and IASTED (Technical Committee on Modeling and Simulation).

Compilers for distributed and concurrent programming, operating systems, concurrent programming, real-time programming, distributed programming, data-flow systems, robotics
