Job Description: 

The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking a Spacecraft Mission Operations Engineer for small satellite operations. Mission operators will work with a small, dynamic team to support operation center set up and day-to-day operations. The operations team will run a “lights out” (Monday-Friday, 9-5) work schedule during nominal operations. The position will require flexibility in work hours during launch, early operations, and anomaly resolution to support needs outside of normal work schedules.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing on-console for real-tie operations and anomaly investigations for multiple missions
  • Developing:
  1. And executing rehearsals
  2. Procedures for mission operations
  3. Contact plans and spacecraft schedules
  4. Training material
  •  Responding to anomalies, software issues/failures
  • Testing software and procedures
  • Trending and monitoring telemetry
  • Health and safety monitoring of space and ground segments
  • Supporting mission integration into the operations center

Required Qualifications:

  • BS degree in engineering, computer science, or relevant technical field
  • Previous satellite operations center experience
  • General knowledge of spacecraft subsystems, orbit dynamics, and ground systems
  • Proficiency in developing documentation, telemetry analysis, and trending
  • Hold an active TS clearance with active SSBI
  • Must be able to support business travel
