Job Description: 

USU Research Foundation is seeking a System Administrator to design, implement, secure, and maintain systems and associated applications, services, and components. This position will require knowledge and/or experience with Windows Server and associated services (i.e. file/print, IIS, Active Directory, and Powershell).

Responsibilities include:

  • Achieves in-depth knowledge of company processes, systems, and networks
  • Monitors assigned systems to ensure high availability, optimum performance, and security
  • Assists with the day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades
  • Assists service desk team as needed
  • Follows established IT policies and procedures to audit workstations and servers to ensure compliance
  • Ensures data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions.
  • Follows industry and company best practices

Required Qualifications:

  • BS degree in a related field
  • Working knowledge and experience with Tier 1 support (hardware/software/peripherals)
  • Working knowledge of Linux
  • Working knowledge of core systems administrator protocols
  • Understanding and ability to implement Information Systems security best practices
  • Willing to perform maintenance on systems outside of core support hours, as required.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Must have or be able to obtain a DoD security clearance
  • Must be a US citizen

  • Professionalism and courtesy in all interactions
  • Industry certifications (MCSA, Security +)
  • Work well under pressure (i.e. a critical system is down)
