The Graduate Studies Webmaster intern position is an excellent work opportunity. Primary responsibilities include management of two websites: 1) and 2) There is considerable freedom on the job for someone with self-motivation who can interact and work well with others. Graduate Studies is always open to expansion of its web presence and increasing interaction with both current and prospective graduate students. Much of the work as Webmaster is project based and requires collaboration with others in office.
There are various secondary responsibilities, such as helping with Graduate Studies events and managing live video streams.
Work is currently completed on a Windows PC, however Mac computers are also available. Websites are created in the Drupal Content Management System (CMS). OBS Studio is used for livestreaming video to YouTube and Facebook for special events.

  1. Maintenance of Graduate Studies websites:
  2. Development and maintenance of small web applications and forms.
  3. Maintenance of the Graduate Studies online catalog.
  4. Management of various event registrations (online registration).
  5. Management of various scholarship and fellowship applications (online submission).

Graduate Studies websites are hosted by a campus service and are built and run using Drupal Content Management System (CMS). Applicant must have experience with and working knowledge of Drupal. The server is administrated by the campus service, and the website is managed and developed by the Webmaster position. Collaboration between the Webmaster and campus service are required for changes to the server and website at certain permission levels.
Knowledge and proficiency in programming languages and systems including:

  • Must have experience and working knowledge in Drupal Content Management System (CMS)
  • Microsoft Excel
  • HTML
  • CSS (particularly Flex structures)
  • PHP
  • XML
  • MySQL
  • Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom

Note: The position allows room for growth and learning, if not all qualifications are met.

Additional Skills

  • Proficiency with another CMS (such as Wordpress)
  • Proficiency in server management (understanding of SSL certificates, FTP connections, alias configuration, port forwarding, Apache configuration)
  • Proficiency in Linux command line
  • Adobe InDesign
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe Premiere
  • Adobe After Effects
