Systems Administrator Network and Security Systems

The Utah State University Research Foundation is seeking an experienced network administrator to design, implement, secure, and maintain systems, associated applications, and services. This position will require knowledge and experience with configuring and securing multi-layer switches, firewalls, VoIP, end-point protection, and IPS/IDS systems. Experience with products such as VMWare, SCCM, and SIEM is helpful. The selected candidate must be able to respond, identify, and remediate any issues related to security, network availability, or performance that affect end users.
Responsibilities include:
·         Monitoring assigned network and security devices and systems to ensure high availability, optimum performance, and security
·         Assisting system administrators with security and connectivity
·         Assisting in penetration tests and risk assessment
·         Assisting with the day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and security upgrades
·         Following established IT policies and procedures to audit workstations and servers to ensure compliance
·         Following industry and company best practices
Required Qualifications:
·         BS degree in a related field
·         Working knowledge of core network and systems administrator protocols
·         Understanding and ability to implement security best practices
·         Understanding of security tools (vulnerability scanners, sniffers, log correlation tools)
·         Willing to perform maintenance for systems outside of core support hours, as required
·         Able to work independently and as part of a team
·         Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
·         Must have or be able to obtain a DoD security clearance
·         Must be a US citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
·         Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy in all interactions
·         Industry certifications (Security +, Certified Ethical Hacker, CCNA, etc.)
·         Working knowledge of scripting (PowerShell, Python, etc.)
·         Understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems
·         Work well under pressure (i.e. a critical system is down)
·         Strong work ethic
·         Ability to focus on results
·         Demonstrated reliability and follow through on commitments and assignments
