While growing up on a farm in southern Alberta, Canada, Bruce Conrad began his life-long passion for computing by reading both of the books on computers held by his small town library. After serving a mission in France and Switzerland, Bruce completed a BS degree in Computer Science at Brigham Young University. He worked for a software company in Paris, France, before returning to the U.S. to earn an MS degree in Computer Science at the University of Arizona, where he also worked with a microbiologist on some early bioinformatics applications. Bruce was then an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Lethbridge. He became a senior scientist at WordPerfect Corporation, and then founded (and crashed) a .com, and worked with several organizations developing web applications.
Bruce and his wife recently returned from a two year mission on the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. He currently works in the office of the CIO at Brigham Young University, building a node pico engine. When not computing, he enjoys reading and spending time with extended family, including eleven children and fourteen grandchildren.
