Declaring A CS Major/Minor

Majors

Students can declare or change a major by contacting the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Advisement Center directly through email, phone, or an in‑person visit. An online major change request form is available, but it’s optional and does not replace the need to reach out to the college's office to finalize the change.

Incoming freshmen may declare a major on their application, but it isn’t finalized until they contact the college's office. Students with more than 60 credits are encouraged to meet with an undergraduate advisor before changing their major.

Double Majors

For double majors, students pick up the required form from their primary major’s advisement center, meet with the secondary major advisor for approval, and then return the form to their primary advisor for the final decision. Students must add a second major before 60 credits (excluding language testing credits).

Minors

Minors are always declared through the advisement center of the student’s primary major. For example, a CS major adding an Art minor would need to contact our college's Advisement Center, while an Art major adding a CS minor would work with the College of Fine Arts and Communications Advisement Center.
