Dr. Cornell received his Ph.D. in computer science from the Politechnical institute of Timisoara, Romania, in 1972. The research for his Ph.D. was done at the University of Illinois--Champaign/Urbana, where he studied as a Fullbright Scholar.
While head of the software research division and director of the Politechnical Institute of Timisoara's computer center, Dr. Cornell was involved with many projects for industry. He co-founded the Modula Research Institute and is a member of IEEE Computer Society (Executive Committee of the Technical Committee on Programming Languages), ACM, and IASTED (Technical Committee on Modeling and Simulation).
