Tim Kapp is an AI systems builder, economist, and educator whose work focuses on how artificial intelligence reshapes markets, organizations, and human systems. He teaches artificial intelligence, data science, and applied machine learning, with an emphasis on both technical foundations and the economic, organizational, and ethical implications of intelligent systems.
Tim brings a practitioner–scholar perspective to his teaching. He is the founder of Cinco AI, where he designs and evaluates real-world AI systems across sectors including finance, healthcare, energy, cybersecurity, and market intelligence. His work centers on agentic AI systems, simulation-based decision models, and the alignment of AI capabilities with organizational strategy.
In addition to his industry work, Tim is actively engaged in applied research and public-interest initiatives at the intersection of AI architecture, economics, and governance. He is a founding member of the U.S. National AI & Cybersecurity ISAO, a Fellow of the Tortora Brayda Institute for AI & Cybersecurity, and has served as Co-Chair of the U.N.-sponsored AI for Good Innovation Factory in Silicon Valley. He also serves on the board of the Gerald Huff Fund for Humanity and was named to the inaugural Utah AI 100 list.
Tim has previously taught artificial intelligence and predictive analytics as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Utah. He regularly advises and engages with academic, policy, and public-sector institutions in the United States and internationally on AI and economic decision-making. His teaching philosophy emphasizes systems thinking, analytical clarity, and responsible innovation—preparing students to design, evaluate, and govern intelligent systems in complex real-world environments.
