McKay is head of Salt Lake City Engineering and Brazil Global Banking & Markets (GBM) Operations Engineering. He has global responsibility for GBM Asset Servicing Operations and Engineering, as well as for several GBM Operations Engineering functions, including the Client Experience and Post-Trade Portfolio Engineering functions. McKay serves as a member of the SLC Leadership Council. Prior to relocating to Salt Lake City in 2020, McKay led the Inventory Management team, focused on optimal management of cash and securities inventory and collateral, working closely with teams across Engineering, as well as teams in Corporate Treasury, Operations and Trading. His previous roles include leading the global Market Risk Technology team within Finance and Risk Engineering, the Trading Strats team for Interest Rate Products in New York and the global Core Quant Strats team, which developed pricing models and infrastructure used by a wide range of Strat teams. In his Core Quant Strat role, McKay also led the build-out of the Strat teams in Bengaluru. He joined Goldman Sachs in 2006 as an associate in New York and was named managing director in 2010. Prior to joining the firm, McKay worked in academia, first as a postdoctoral scholar in the School of Mathematics at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and later as an assistant professor of computational and applied mathematics at Rice University. McKay earned BA degrees in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Utah and a PhD in Applied and Computational Mathematics from the California Institute of Technology in 2003.
